Staff communication is extremely important. I strongly believe that a small business or start up should include everyone in the company as often as possible on multiple topics. Not only does this make people feel included, but it keeps everyone on the same page. The best way to do this is to create an email alias like staff@yourcompanydomain.com or everyone@yourcompanydomain.com, then have this email forward to everyone’s personal address.
Reasons for a staff@ email address:
1. Whereabouts: Until we had Exchange and shared a corporate calendar I made everyone who was going to be late or could not make it into work, send an email to staff@ with their whereabouts. We still follow this practice within departments.
2. Google Alerts: Set up google alerts on your competitors or industry news and have it emailed to your staff address
3. Suggestion box: Use this as your open suggestion box, so people can comment on something and it is sent to everyone to review.
4. Singing praises: Nothing makes your employee feel better than to have their praises sung in front of the whole company.
5. Company announcements: Quickly reach everyone regarding company party confirmations and directions, holiday closures, half days, and press releases.
