		<description>As employee's of a industry leading and quickly growing company, we would find this sort of bonus very beneficial.  We take pride in the company we work for and would like to be part of the growing process as well.  It would be nice to take ownership and feel part of the decision making process.

If you're rolling out an option program to your employees, I would push your board to agree to an accelerated vesting employee's options in the event of a buyout/merger.   You guys could easily be acquired next year or the year after and it would be a nice gesture to make sure your team's options automatically vested in that scenario.   It happened to me, and after only a year at Intellisync, I left with a bundle of fully vested options once we were acquired by Nokia.   I was sad to say goodby to the old company, but I really have tremendous respect for the senior management who were thoughtful enough to make sure even "the little people" were taken care of.  ;)</description>

But tech employees, I daresay, are going to be more skeptical than the hippie line cook who didn't couldn't make rent prior to entering the co-op. That's because of last decade's Bubble: Many who slaved long unpaid overtime hours with the promise of "stock options" never saw those little certificates materialize. I'm sure your How-To, Part 2 on this issue will be something those last-gen startups should have known way back then.</description>
